Where the Latinx/e Theatre Community Movement Begins
The Latinx Theatre Commons is a national movement built on a simple idea: theatre is stronger when knowledge, leadership, and opportunity are shared.
We are rooted in community, driven by artists, and built on the belief that Latinx theatre belongs at the center of stages across the United States.
Who We Are
The Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC) is a commons-based movement dedicated to amplifying the visibility of Latinx theatre artists, transforming the stories told on stages across the United States, and championing cultural equity through art-making, advocacy, convening, and scholarship.
We are not a traditional arts organization. We don’t have a building, a board, or a single artistic director. What we have is a community and a shared commitment to making theatre more equitable, more representative, and more alive.
Our Model
You’re invited to help build and care for this commons.
A commons is a resource governed by a community practicing a collaborative way of relating to each other. The resources in this commons are the knowledge, relationships, and creative power within the Latinx/e theatre community.
At LTC, this means a horizontal structure instead of a hierarchy. Programming is shaped by the community, not handed down from the top. Leadership is cultivated, not appointed. Resources are shared, not hoarded.
Anyone who wants to participate is invited to help care for the commons. That’s the foundation of the commons, and the heart of everything the Latinx Theatre Commons does.

Why Latinx Theatre Commons?
The Latinx Theatre Commons exists because lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens when people come together.
LTC chose to build a commons: a community where artists, scholars, educators, advocates, and cultural workers share knowledge, cultivate relationships, and create opportunities together.
Today, that work continues through convenings, advocacy, scholarship, artistic practice, and the countless connections made along the way.
